GTD – the Value of Checklists

gtd-bookA recent issue of the  The New England Journal of Medicine reported on the tremendous safety value of a surgeon’s checklist to reduce deaths.

Adopting the simple technique of checklists – the value of which for me have always been validated by the required use of them by airline pilots – is extolled as a major element of reducing surgical deaths.

It is also an important tool of the GTD process. For processes that you repeat time and time again – your daily or weekly GTD review, for example, or a travel checklist, questions to ask your prospects, a list of friends with whom to stay in touch – a regular review of those evolving checklists is a proven method to stay focused and not rely upon your memory to recall those items when you need them.
