A Passion for Learning is the Cornerstone of Success

The NY Times recently published an article entitled “If You’re Open to Growth, You Tend to Grow“, a summary of research completed by Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck and published in her book, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success. Her mission was to try to better understand why certain people achieve their business potential while others fall short.

After thirty years of careful research, she concluded that people who are “learners” adopt a growth attitude toward talent, and “demonstrate the kind of perseverance and resilience” which profoundly affects all aspects of their life. Those who believe they were born with all the talents and gifts they’ll ever have reflect a “fixed mindset”, and the absence of a passion for learning is a real hindrance to their success- who believe their knowledge and abilitities can expand over time – are much more likely to fulfill their potential than those
